Viva Las Vegas! Prepping for insane week ahead at MJBizCon

November 12, 2018

In my mind's latest edition of "holy shizz, time is FLYING by way too quickly," I'm preparing for what will be an exhilarating, energizing, amazingly fun and exhausting few days in Las Vegas for MJBizCon. My schedule is packed with sessions to attend at the conference, businesses and friends to meet on the expo floor, and plenty off-site meetings and afterparties to attend.

And this is all happening in Nevada while adult-use retail sales are expected to commence this week in Massachusetts! Oh well. Dispensaries in Nevada have been up and running with retail sales since January 2017.

Making things different for me this year at MJBizCon is my focus. The huge event of 1000+ vendors on the expo floor and barrage of off-site opportunities for networking and celebrating our industry colleagues' successes was a bit overwhelming for this first-timer in 2017. But this year I have goals beyond simply "experiencing" the event: In addition to attending as many sessions as possible, I want to connect with people who can help me accelerate social consumption licensing back home in Massachusetts so we can start building beautiful businesses where adults can legally and safely consume their cannabis. (Check out my recent piece in the Boston Globe on the subject here.)

I'm also focused on exploring opportunities with companies who share ELEVATE Northeast's dedication to education and community empowerment. ELEVATE has big plans for 2019 and we need like-minded corporate supporters to help us fulfill our mission.

It's going to be a hectic few days. But in the clouds of hustle and innovation in Vegas this week, I know I'll experience those precious moments when I remember how lucky I am to be there with thousands of industry pioneers, thought leaders and innovators.

Man, I love my job.

Heading to Vegas for MJBizCon? Hit me up!
